Vamanjoor, Aug 17 : To mark India's 78th Independence Day celebration, a life saving initiative was taken by The NSS and Rovers and Rangers unit of St. Raymond's PU College in association with Lion's Club Kavoor on 15, August 2024 in the college premises. The Tejasvini Hospital, Mangalore joined St. Raymond’s PU College for conducting this annual outreach programme.

The significant event towards saving lives through Blood Donation Camp was presided over by Rev. Sr. Mariola BS, Deputy Secretary, BES, Province coordinator for Education and Correspondent of the college. In her presidential address she highlighted the role of youth in saving lives and making a positive difference in society. Through the selfless act of donating blood, individuals can demonstrate their commitment to save lives and spreading hope, she added. Dr. Elisha Mary Furtado, Blood Bank Officer highlighted the need of donating blood. Ln. Nityananda Shetty, President, Lions Club, Kavoor appreciated the initiative taken towards this noble cause. The Programme was graced with the valuable presence of Rev. Sr. Vithalis BS, Superior, St. Raymond’s Convent. Sr. Anita Lydia BS, Principal, St. Raymond’s PU College delivered the keynote address.

Ln. Sohan Alva, Secretary, Lion's Club Kavoor, Ln. Dayanand Shetty, Treasurer, Ln. Mohandas Shetty, Member, Mrs. Devanandini Marla Jain, PTA Vice President, Mohammed Arief, Rostan Lobo, Dhanush Moily Alumni of the college were present on the dais.

This event brought together the alumni of the college to contribute to the noble cause of blood donation. The initiative aimed not only to collect blood but also to raise awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and its impact on saving lives. The camp witnessed a remarkable turnout of donors who selflessly came forward to donate blood. The event was meticulously planned, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and guidelines to guarantee the well-being of donors. From registration to post-donation care, every step was meticulously managed by trained professionals, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for all participants. Programme was anchored by Mr. Hemanth. Mrs. Raina welcomed the gathering. Mr. Ravichandra expressed the words of gratitude. The event was well organized by Mr. Jayaram, NSS Coordinator.

As a token of appreciation, all donors were rewarded with a certificate of appreciation. This gesture not only acknowledged their generosity but also fostered a culture of empathy within society. Let us continue to support such noble causes and make a positive difference.
