Manngaluru, Sep 20, 2024 : Fifty students from Class X, enrolled in the Environment Application subject at St. Theresa's School, had a remarkable opportunity to visit the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Karkala. Accompanied by Sr. Lourdes, the Principal, and Mrs. Mangalashree, their teacher, the visit was an integral part of their project on waste management.
The experience was an eye-opener for the students as they witnessed firsthand the efficient handling of waste, particularly the segregation and recycling of plastics, glass, and paper. The plant demonstrated the initial process of waste segregation and how different materials are managed for recycling and reuse.

The students gained valuable insights into the various types of plastics, papers, and glass, and the intricate processes involved in their recycling. They also learned the critical importance of waste management in everyday life, especially since plastics, though indispensable in modern living, pose significant environmental challenges.
A key takeaway from the visit was that effective waste management starts at home, and the students became more conscious of their social responsibility in contributing to a cleaner, greener environment.
