Founder of the Order of the Minims, patron saint of Calabria and of the Italian seafarers, St. Francis of Paola (1416 - 1507) is venerated as a thaumaturge and protector of the poor, who in the Kingdom of Naples ruled by the Angevins, suffered from serious neglect and injustice.
