Puttur, April 2, 2025 : St Philomena College (Autonomous), under the auspices of the Department of Business Administration, organised a practical training programme titled “Experiential Group Discussion on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.” The event served as a vibrant platform for students to engage in thought-provoking discourse while honing vital professional skills.
The session was led by resource person Mr J.C. Krishnamohan, who, in his inaugural address, emphasised the core values students must cultivate after graduation to thrive in today’s highly competitive world. He elaborated on the diverse avenues for acquiring knowledge and enhancing career opportunities, setting the tone for an insightful day of learning.
Presiding over the programme, Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro highlighted the significance of group discussion in today’s professional landscape. “The ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and collaborate meaningfully is indispensable for success in the corporate realm,” he noted. “Such programmes lay a strong foundation for students, preparing them to meet the evolving demands of the job market.”
He also shared a key update from the department: “For the past two years, the Business Administration department has been offering training for BBA students to enrol in the Company Secretary course in collaboration with ICSI. From the upcoming academic year, we are pleased to introduce a new programme, BBA in Business Analytics.”
The programme began with a prayer by Mahima and team from the third-year BBA. Manoj N., a final-year BBA student, welcomed the gathering. First-year student Likhith delivered the vote of thanks. Anagha S. Rai, a second-year BBA student, compered the programme. Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Head of the Business Administration Department, and Ms. Pushpa N., Coordinator of the Management Association, were present on the dais. Faculty members Prashanth Rai and Abhishek Suvarna also participated in the event.
The best part of the programme was the practical training session conducted by Mr Krishnamohan. Students actively engaged in experiential learning activities, acquiring hands-on exposure to real-world problem-solving in the context of innovation and entrepreneurship.
After explaining the fundamental principles of group discussion, Mr Krishnamohan divided the students into teams and guided them through an interactive activity. Each group was assigned a current issue or thought-provoking topic related to innovation and entrepreneurship. The discussions focused on problem-solving, creativity, team collaboration, eloquent expression, and decision-making capabilities.
Students presented their opinions using logic, reasoning, and evidence. Some teams stood out by overcoming challenging questions and proposing novel strategies, while others responded to provocative queries with well-articulated answers.
