Udupi, Oct 26 : The Annual Sports Meet at St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE) took place on October 25, 2024, amidst a lively and celebratory atmosphere. The event commenced with a ceremonial march led by the Chief Guest, esteemed alumna Ms. Sandra Soans, accompanied by dignitaries and guided by the rhythmic beats of the school band, lending a sense of grandeur to the occasion.
The event opened with a heartfelt prayer song performed by the school choir, invoking blessings for the day. Following this, Sr Lathika, the Principal, extended a warm welcome to everyone and introduced Ms. Sandra Soans, highlighting her achievements and connection to the school. The March Past, a highlight of the event, saw students from Grades 6 to 10 marching in unison, under the dedicated leadership of Vanshika, the Head Girl, showcasing their discipline and unity.
The Sports Meet was officially inaugurated as the students took a solemn sports oath, pledging fairness and sportsmanship. Ms. Sandra received the symbolic sports torch, carrying the spirit of the event forward. Sr. Preethi Crasta, the Joint Secretary, proudly hoisted the school flag, marking the beginning of the games. In a final touch, Ms. Sandra Soans declared the sports meet open by releasing vibrant, colorful balloons, symbolizing the joy and energy of the day. In her inspiring address, Ms. Sandra expressed admiration for the well-coordinated March Past and praised the efforts of the teachers. She reminisced about her own days at St. Cecily’s, rekindling cherished memories that resonated with students and staff alike, making the occasion a memorable celebration of the school’s enduring spirit. Sr Preethi Crasta, the Joint Secretary, addressed the gathering with warm words of encouragement, wishing all the students the best of luck in their events. She emphasized the importance of fair play and integrity, reminding everyone of the true spirit of sportsmanship. Following her address, students from Grade 5 put on a vibrant and energetic drill performance, skillfully weaving colorful ribbons in a captivating display of coordination and enthusiasm. The Inaugural ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Tr. Jyothi, who expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the event a success, leaving the audience eagerly anticipating the day’s sporting events.
The highlight of the day came with the announcement of individual championships for both boys and girls in the under-12 and Under-14 categories. The much-anticipated overall championship and March Past awards were also revealed, sparking excitement and pride among the participants. The programme concluded at 3:30 p.m. with the respectful lowering of the school flag, marking the end of a memorable and spirited Sports Day.
