Puttur 4 April 2025 : The Department of Computer Science and Pinnacle IT Club of St Philomena College jointly inaugurated the much-anticipated state-level IT fest ‘Pinnacle-25’ on Thursday at the SJM Hall of the College.
The event was formally inaugurated by Sharan Chilimbi, a well-known social media influencer and Tulu content creator, who lit the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the students, He emphasized the value of active participation beyond classroom learning. “There is much to learn not just from textbooks but through active engagement in competitions. Participation matters more than winning. Those who step up and participate stand a step ahead of others,” he remarked. He further praised the positive atmosphere of the college, stating that the campus radiates a “positive energy” and shared how his own participation in such events during his academic life played a pivotal role in his personal and professional growth.
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the Principal of the college, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He emphasized the need for creativity and innovation among students. “There may be many who imitate others, but in this competitive world, success comes to those who unleash their full potential. Students must participate wholeheartedly in competitions to realize their capabilities,” he said, encouraging the youth to go beyond the ordinary.
Presiding over the event, the correspondent of the college Very Rev. Lawrence Mascarenhas, inspired students to seize every opportunity to showcase their talents. “Classroom learning and learning through such competitions are like theory and practice, both are equally important. Success in life demands both knowledge and experience. Keep yourselves open to learning from your surroundings. Give equal importance to learning and competing. Humility can take us to great heights,” he advised.
The event also served as a platform to felicitate meritorious students. Ms. Chaitali S, who secured the fourth rank in the BCA program during the 2023-24 undergraduate examinations under Mangalore University, was honoured on the occasion. The felicitation speech was delivered by Assistant Professor Ms. Sowmya of the Computer Science Department.
The event commenced with a prayer rendered by Surabhi and team. The formal welcome was delivered by Lenin, the student coordinator of Pinnacle-25, the vote of thanks was proposed by Havyas U, another student coordinator of the fest. The program was compered by Srujana, a second-year BCA student.
Dignitaries present on the dais included Dr Vinaya Chandra, Controller of Examinations and Dean & Head of the Computer Science Department, and Dr Geetha Poornima K, Faculty Coordinator of Pinnacle-25.
