Solemn Evening Prayer held on the occasion of the Word of God Sunday-2025 at Bejai Church

Mangaluru , Jan 26 : Solemn Evening Prayer of the Church was held on the occasion the Word of God Sunday-2025 at St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai; organised by the Commission for Bible of the Diocese of Mangalore on Saturday 25th January, 2025. The prayer was presided by the Bishop Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha. The parish priest Rev Dr J B Saldanha introduced the prayer and welcomed the gathering.

The prayer began with the enthronement of the Bible by the Bishop. The Bejai Church Choir headed by Rev Fr Norman Mathias and Choir master Ivan Mascarenhas felicitated the singing of Psalms. Rev Dr Vincent Sequeira, Diocesan Secretary for the Commission for Bible thanked the gathering. The Parish Pastoral Parishad of the parish with vice president Ashok Pinto, Secretary Avita Pinto and all commissions convener Godwin Pinto took keen interest in arranging this programme.

Fifteen Priests, Deacon Jeevan Lobo and around 450 parishioners took part in this unique Evening Prayer of the Church with much devotion. The entire prayer was centred on the theme, “I Hope in your word” (Ps 119:74) and was a fitting tribute to the significance of the Bible in the life of a Christian.
