Bajal - Mangaluru, Oct 31, 2024 : The Bajal Badminton Tournament, organized by ICYM unit of Holy Spirit Church Bajal, took place on October 20, 2024, at Father Muller Indoor Stadium. The tournament began with a prayer song by ICYM members, setting a reverent tone for the day.

Fr. Rayan Pinto, OCD, was present for the inauguration ceremony and was warmly welcomed by ICYM President Ms. Jasmine Dsilva with a floral gesture. Secretary Einstein Pinto presented a memento to Fr. Rayan as a token of appreciation. In his address, Fr. Rayan wished all participants the best of luck.

The tournament categories included singles, doubles, and mixed doubles for various age groups. Approximately 100 participants took part in the tournament, making it a lively and engaging event. A special fruit counter was provided for participants and spectators, courtesy of Mr. Glanny, and lunch was served to everyone in attendance. The tournament was supported by five referees from Mangalore University's Department of Physical Education.

The valedictory ceremony was held in the evening at 7 PM, hosted by Ms. Venisha Fernandes as MC. Distinguished guests included Fr. Andrew D'Souza, Parish Priest of God the Holy Spirit Church in Bajal; Fr. Melwin Pinto, a supporting priest for Sunday missions; and Mrs. Lydia Lobo, Secretary of the Parish Council. Also present on stage were ICYM officials: President Ms. Jasmine D'Silva, Secretary Einstein Pinto, and Sports Secretary Kevin Monteiro.

The ceremony opened with a prayer song by ICYM members, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Jasmine Dsilva. Fr. Melwin Pinto shared his positive experiences from the tournament, and Fr. Andrew D'Souza congratulated ICYM members on the successful event and encouraged participants and the audience.

Mr. Einstein Pinto delivered the vote of thanks, and the guests were presented with mementos in appreciation of their support. Fr. Andrew also honored the event sponsors with tokens of gratitude. The prize distribution followed, led by Mr. Deril Lasrado, where trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were awarded to the winners by the distinguished guests.
