Mangaluru, Jan 21 : Carmel School, Mangaluru, organized an array of educational field trips for its students across various grades, creating a platform for experiential learning beyond classroom walls. These trips, held in January 2025, enriched the students' understanding of nature, culture, and industry while encouraging curiosity and teamwork.

Kindergarten: Pilikula Biological Park

The youngest learners explored Pilikula Biological Park, where LKG and UKG students observed animals, birds, and reptiles in their natural habitats. The highlight was a captivating encounter with the different animals, complemented by a serene nature walk.

Class 1: Tree Park, Thannirubavi

Grade 1 students visited Tree Park, Thannirubavi, immersing themselves in lush greenery. They learned about diverse plant species, medicinal plants, and the students got a chance to learn about local culture through statues depicting Yakshagana, Kambala, and Boothada Kola.

Class 2: Food and Laundry Services

Grade 2 students explored Food and Laundry at Deralakatte, followed by VJ Condiments and the Fisheries College, Yekkur. They gained practical insights into food processing, large-scale laundry services, and marine resources, stimulating an appreciation for essential community services.

Class 3: Chikki and Condiment Factories

Third graders delved into manufacturing processes at Chikki and condiment factories, understanding quality control, hygiene, and sustainability. A visit to the Fisheries College added insights into aquaculture and marine sciences.

Class 4: Milk Dairy, Kulshekar

Grade 4 students toured the Milk Dairy in Kulshekar, witnessing milk processing, pasteurisation, and packaging. This hands-on experience illuminated the journey of milk from farms to tables.

Class 5: Soans Farms and Thousand Pillar Temple, Moodbidri

Students of Grade 5 explored Soans Farms, discovering pineapple and pepper cultivation, medicinal plants, and organic farming. A visit to the historic Thousand Pillar Temple deepened their appreciation for South Indian heritage and architecture.

Class 6: Talipady Weavers’ Society, Coastal Honeybee Farm, and Science Park

Grade 6 students gained diverse experiences by observing handloom weaving at Talipady, interacting with beekeeping practices at a honeybee farm, and engaging with STEM activities at Science Park, Kateel. It was a platform to learn life skills through hands-on activities.

Class 7: Soans Farms and Thousand Pillar Temple

Seventh graders visited Soans Farms for agricultural education and explored the architectural splendor of the Thousand Pillar Temple, enriching their understanding of culture and sustainability.

Classes 8 & 9: Dharmasthala

Students of Grades 8 and 9 explored Dharmasthala, visiting the Car Museum, Manjusha Museum, aquarium, and the Gomateshwara statue. These visits combined history, technology, and spirituality, offering a comprehensive learning experience. It was a treat to eyes and minds.

Through these thoughtfully planned excursions, Carmel School continues to inspire young minds to explore, question, and appreciate the world around them. These trips seamlessly integrated education, culture, and entertainment, leaving lasting impressions on students.
