Mangaluru, Sep 17 : On the occasion of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, ICYM St. Peter City Deanery, in collaboration with ICYM Kelarai Unit, organized the "MORI MAI AMCHEM SANGIN" lively event on 14 September 2024 at 6 PM at Kelarai Church Hall.
The program commenced with two competitions organized for the youths of the City Deanery: Quiz and a Singing Competition based on Mother Mary. All the youths participated actively in the competitions.
Following the competitions, the formal program began with a prayer service led by the ICYM Kelarai unit. The dignitaries present on the dais included Rev. Fr. Sylvester D'costa - Parish Priest of Kelarai Church, Rev. Fr. James D'Souza - Vicar Forane, City Deanery, Rev. Fr. William D'Souza – ICYM City Deanery Director, Rev. Fr. Roshan Fernandes - Asst. Parish Priest Kelarai Church, Mr. Santhosh D'costa – Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council Kelarai, Ashlin D'Souza – Secretary ICYM Central Council, Jaison D'Souza – Regional Representative ICYM Central Council, Christon Menezes – President ICYM City Deanery, Reshal Monteiro – Secretary ICYM City Deanery, Roopesh D'Souza – President ICYM Kelarai, and Alisha Crasta – Secretary ICYM Kelarai.
The program was inaugurated with the dignitaries presenting flowers to the Infant Mary. Christon Menezes, President of ICYM City Deanery, welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Sylvester D'costa, in his speech he emphasized the importance of youth coming together for this feast, noting that it was a valuable experience to celebrate together and uphold our traditions. Rev.Fr. James Dsouza addressed the youth and gave the youth a thoughtful message.
Prizes were later distributed to the winners by the dignitaries. Alisha Crasta, Secretary ICYM Kelarai, proposed the vote of thanks. The Novem was blessed by Rev. Fr. William D'Souza and the other dignitaries. The program concluded with the ICYM Anthem.
During the program, Nihan Sequeira – Vice President ICYM Central Council, Riana D'cunha – Lady Vice President ICYM Central Council, Wilson Pinto – Social Cause Secretary ICYM Central Council, and Avit Prem Lobo – Red Drop Coordinator ICYM Central Council were also present.
Following the program, all the youths, along with the guests, enjoyed a delicious and traditional dinner prepared by all the units of ICYM City Deanery.
