Bajpe, Sep 7, 2024 : ICYM Bajpe, in association with the Commission for Youth and parishioners, organized “Pavsa Pakvana 2024” on August 25th at 4:00 PM in the St Joseph Church Main Hall, Bajpe. The event aimed to unite parishioners while showcasing traditional monsoon delicacies from the coastal region.

The program began with a procession featuring members from various wards carrying 'Voje,' which included vegetables, coconuts, and other traditional items. The stage program began with a prayer song led by ICYM Bajpe members, seeking God's blessings for the success of the event.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Rev. Dr. Ronald Cutinha, ICYM Bajpe Unit Director; Rev. Fr. Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, ICYM Bajpe Unit Assistant Director; Rev. Fr. Anil Lobo, Chaplain of St. John Paul II Shrine; Mr. Stany D'Souza, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President; Mrs. Gracy Sequeira, Parish Pastoral Council Secretary; Mrs. Mabel Saldanha, Pastoral Commissions Coordinator; Rev. Dr. Ozmond Roshan Dsouza, Assistant Priest, Church Of Sacred Heart Of Jesus, Madanthyar; Ms. Frenita Tauro, ICYM Bajpe Unit Animator; Ms. Melria Saldanha, ICYM Bajpe President; and Ms. Carol Lobo, ICYM Bajpe Secretary.

ICYM President Melria Cryshal Saldanha delivered the welcome address. The Parish Priest uniquely inaugurated the event by cutting a jackfruit, then served to the dignitaries on the dais. Following the inauguration, Rev. Dr. Ronald Cutinha addressed the gathering. The sponsors were felicitated for their generous contributions, and the inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by ICYM Secretary Carol Lobo.

The cultural segment of the event featured ICYM members performing a Qawwali song, which highlighted the essence of coastal monsoon traditions and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the contributors. Following this, the president and secretary opened the food stalls, showcasing a variety of traditional coastal monsoon foods prepared by the ward members of the parish.

The program continued with performances from ward members, including skits, singing, and dancing, all reflecting the monsoon season’s cultural richness. Stall sponsors were honored for their support. The Commission for Youth Coordinator, Mr. Ruben D'Souza, conducted a Housie Housie game. The items brought as 'Voje' were auctioned, adding to the coastal monsoon theme of the evening.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from parishioners and visitors from neighboring parishes, making it a vibrant and joyful evening. The event concluded with a lively Baila dance, leaving everyone energized and cheerful.
