Mangaluru, Jan 31 : In a poignant testament to the enduring power of hope and perseverance, Chaitali, also known as Kanchanmala Roy, was joyously reunited with her family on January 15, 2025, after an astonishing 28-year separation.

Chaitali's journey toward homecoming took a decisive turn on September 13, 2023, when she was rescued by the compassionate team at Snehalaya. Subsequently, she was admitted to the Shraddha Foundation on November 25, 2024. Despite extensive efforts to trace her identity, her family remained unknown, as time had wrought profound changes in her appearance. Her details were disseminated widely across Facebook, television news, and WhatsApp groups, yet no one came forward to claim her.

The long-awaited breakthrough arrived when a woman recognized the names of Chaitali's family members, setting into motion a chain of events that culminated in a deeply moving reunion. On that momentous day, her husband, brothers, sisters-in-law, and neighbors embraced her with tearful joy, ending nearly three decades of anguish and longing.

For her two sons—one an Army officer stationed in Amritsar, the other working in Silchar—the reunion was nothing short of a miracle. Overcome with emotion, they found themselves once more in the presence of the mother they had feared lost forever.

Chaitali's remarkable homecoming stands as a testament to the relentless dedication of the Snehalaya and Shraddha Foundations, whose unwavering commitment has restored not just one family but the dignity and identity of countless individuals. To date, these organizations have successfully reunited over 1,490 lost souls with their loved ones, rekindling hope where despair once reigned.
