Nirkan - Bantwal , Aug 1 : The YCS Unit of St Thomas the Apostle Church, Nirkan organized a "Cooking Without Fire" inter-ward cooking competition for Nirkan Parishioners on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at the St. Thomas school Hall, Nirkan.
The event was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Leo Lobo, Parish Priest, along with Vincent Bennis, Vice President of PPC, Shanthi Veigas, Secretary of PPC, Austin Lobo, Coordinator of Commissions at Nirkan Church, and Sr. Sevrine Fernandes, Animator of YCS Nirkan Unit, among others.
Six wards took part in the event, and the judging focused on taste and presentation.
Sr. Severine Fernandes announced the event winners where Nithyadar Ward won the first prize, Sacred Heart Ward won the second prize, and St. Joseph Ward won the third prize.
The judges for the competition were Mr. Donald James D'Souza and Ms. Raina Baretto, both renowned Assistant Professors at Nitte Institute of Technology with expertise in Hotel Management. Their dedication to judging was acknowledged with a token of gratitude.
Shavil Veigas, President of YCS Nirkan Unit, warmly welcomed all the attendees, and Rishal Lobo, Secretary of YCS Nirkan Unit, conveyed the vote of thanks. The event was efficiently compered by Benisha D'Souza, Yuvathare representative of YCS Nirkan. Overall, it was a successful program.
