Nirkan - Bantwal, July 4 : On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 9:00 AM, St Thomas the Apostle Church, Nirkan hosted the Thanksgiving Eucharist to commemorate the Feast of St. Thomas, the Apostle of India.

The day was began with a spirited Thanksgiving Eucharist, presided over by Rev Fr Robert D'Souza, Parish Priest of Allipade Church and the Director of ICYM Bantwal Deanery. Rev Fr Leo William Leo Lobo, Parish Priest of Nirkan concelebrated. In his enlightening homily, Rev. Fr. Robert D'Souza encouraged the congregation to embrace the power of prayer as a means to fortify their eternal lives.

The esteemed donors of the feast were duly acknowledged through the ceremonial distribution of candles. The choir members passionately sang the hymns, invoking a deep sense of reverence and establishing an atmosphere that was conducive to sincere and devout prayer. Additionally, the music resonated with a delightful and pleasing quality.

Further, during the proceedings, the main celebrant Rev. Fr. Robert D'Souza revealed the Ruby Jubilee Celebration Logo of ICYM Nirkan to honor the 40th year. And remembered the selfless and dedicated service since 1984 for keeping the parish active with various activities.

Notable attendees included Rev. Fr. Leo Lobo, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM Nirkan Unit; Alphonse Fernandes, the Founding President of ICYM Nirkan Unit in November 1984; Vincent Bennis, Vice President of PPC and Animator of ICYM Nirkan Unit; Shanthi Veigas, Secretary of PPC; Austin Lobo, Coordinator of Commissions; Rolvish Fernandes, President ICYM Nirkan Unit; and Venisha Lasrado, Joint Secretary of ICYM Nirkan Unit, along with other parishioners. The inaugural program was hosted by Melvita Crasta, an ICYM member.

It was a reflection of the enduring spirit of faith and service within the parish. It served as a reminder of the strong community bonds and the commitment to spiritual growth, especially as the community came together to celebrate the Feast of St. Thomas.
