Omzoor, March 30, 2024 : On account of Good Friday, the devotion of Way of the Cross was held at 8.45 am on March 29 in Holy Family Church, Omzoor followed by private adoration. The parishioners participated in large numbers with utmost devotion.

The evening Good Friday service commenced at 5.00 pm. The Good Friday service comprised of four parts: Scripture readings and reflection, solemn prayers for various intentions, the unveiling and veneration of the Cross, and holy communion.

Fr Anil Alfred Dsouza; Director, Family Life Centre, Shanthi Kiran & Guardian, St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu was the main celebrant. Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, the parish priest co-celebrated the service. The Passion of Christ was narrated by Fr Anil Dsouza and Fr Alwyn D’Cunha. Fr Anil Dsouza preached the homily after the passion narrative. The service continued by solemn intercessions for various intentions and veneration of the cross.

Post the holy communion, a unique and symbolic ceremony of lowering the body of Jesus from the Holy Cross was held with great devotion and reverence. Faithful took part in the procession of honouring the body of Jesus. Fr Anil Dsouza delivered the Sermon of Kerchief. The ceremony concluded by placing the kerchief in the hands of Blessed Mother Mary as a gesture of consolation.
