Bantwal, Aug 2 : On the occasion of the Feast of St Joachim and St Ann, Year of Family and Silver Jubilee Year of the Parish, ICYM unit of St. John Marie Vianney Church , Bambil organised Parents’ Day and Prathibha Puraskar program along with parish units - YCS, Family Commission, Youth Commission, SCC Commission and Education Commission, on Sunday, 30th July 2023.

It was a day to honour and appreciate the parents, elders and also 10th and PUC passed students for their excellence in studies.

The program was presided over by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr Naveen Dsouza, Chief Guest was Rev. Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado. The other dignitaries on the dais were Mrs Veena Dsouza – Vice President, Mrs Rufeena Veigas – Secretary, Parish Pastoral council, Mr Wilson Crasta – Commissions coordinator, Mr Roshan Pinto – Convener, Silver Jubilee Committee, Mr Casmir Dsouza – Family Commission Convener, Mrs Flavy Dsouza – Youth Commission Convener, Mrs Cecilia Veigas – Education Commission Convener, Mr Roshan Sequeira – ICYM President and Ms Roshel Sequeira – YCS President.

The program began with the prayer led by the SCC Aayog members. Mr Casmir Dsouza welcomed all.

On behalf of all the Parents, the eldest couple (Mr Gilbert and Mrs Lucy Dsouza) cut the cake and celebrated the Parents’ day.

Those who earned good marks and passed in SSLC and PUC were honoured with Prathibha Puraskar.

Rev. Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado gave a talk on family highlighting the responsibilities of parents and children.

Variety of entertaining games were conducted for the parents, couples, youth and children by ICYM members, Roshan Sequeira, Pranitha Crasta, Jeslin Dsouza and Melita Rosario.

Winners were awarded with prizes. YCS secretary Jestan Pereira proposed the vote of thanks.

The program ended with a delicious lunch and Payasam.

The program was a great success. Everyone enjoyed and felt the joyful company of Parents and Elders of the parish. Ms Melita Rosario anchored the program.
