Kasargod, July 27 : ICYM and Catholic Sabha units of St Lawrence Church, Maniyampare conducted a silent march called " Peace Walk " for condemning the ongoing violence in the state of Manipur and demanding peace and order, on July 23, 2023. As part of this, hundreds of people including children and women participated in the public protest led by Fr Nelson D Almeda from the church compound and a public protest was held near the Sheni school bus stand.

Inaugurating the protest meeting, Enmakaje grama panchayat president Somashekhar JS said, " Everyone has the right to live according to the constitution in a secular country. In violation of this, the innocent people of Manipur are falling victim to the political conspiracy to divide and rule on the basis of caste and religion. It is sad that the government has remained silent aganist the daily incidents like dombi , riots and rape ".

Raju John D Souza , Kasaragod Zone President of Catholic Sabha presided. Muslim league leader Abubakar Perdane spoke as the chief guest.

Church Pastoral Parishad Vice President Wilson D Souza , Secretary Dhanraj D Souza , ICYM Central Committee Vice President Delwin D Souza , Catholic Sabha Maniyampare unit President Amruth Lal D Souza , ICYM Maniyampare unit President Preethem D Souza led the protest.
