Mangaluru, June 25 : As Lourdes Central School celebrates the Silver Jubilee Year, the LCS Summit 2023 was held on Saturday, 24 June 2023, the honouring ceremony of the toppers and achievers of 2022-23, at Bejai Church Hall. The dignitaries present on the occasion were the Chief Guest Dr. John Edward DSilva, Retd Associate Professor of Mathematics, St Aloysius PU College; Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, the Manager LCS; Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza, the Principal; Mr Ashok Pinto, Vice President and Ms Cynthia Avitha DSouza, Secretary, Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad; Ms Belita Mascarenhas and Ms Anita Thomas, Vice Principals; Ms Reethika Jindal, PTEC Vice President; Ms Mary Monisha PTEC Joint Secretary; The Head Boy Arjun Kumar and the Head Girl Prajna KP.
The programme began at 9.00a.m. with a winsome and glittering welcome dance by the students of class X.To invoke God’s blessings on this grand occasion, the prayer song ‘Bless LCS Summit’ was sung by the School Choir, composed by Mr Ivan Mascarenhas. The Principal Rev. Fr Robert DSouza accorded a ceremonial welcome to the venerated guests and introduced the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest Dr John Edward DSilva, Retd Associate Professor of Mathematics, St Aloysius PU College was honoured by the dignitaries on the stage. This was followed by the felicitation ceremony of the school toppers from class XII and class X.
Dr John DSilva, the Chief Guest of the function delivered his keynote address and said that in the eyes of the public, Lourdes Central School has been held in high esteem for human values. This institution is the torch bearer to the society and prepares a platform for every child. He stated that a student should be a thinker, hard worker and smart worker and one day he/she will be a great personality in the society. He urged the students to be positive and not to give up. He expressed that the Principal Rev. Fr Robert DSouza is both a father and a mother, an icon of human values, and has built temples in the hearts of the people. Speaking about Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, the Manager, Dr John DSilva conveyed that Father Manager has a love for the people, has worked for communal harmony and wherever he has served, he lives in the hearts of the people. He specified the two stalwarts i.e. Father Principal and Father Manager are a blessing to Lourdes Central School and to the society. He indicated that teachers should allow students to think out of the box, and be teachers who inspire and take LCS to greater heights. He concluded by saying that all should stand for one religion called humanity and then we can be the happiest people in the world.
The student achievers who have proved their mettle and scored 90% and above in class XII CBSE Board Examination were awarded. Saakshi Rao of class XII shared her experience on this momentous occasion.
The Manager Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, a true leader and innovator delivered the Presidential Address and highlighted on the caption of LCS Summit i.e. Respect, Responsibility and Reaching Excellence. The narration of the story of the woodcutter created a vivid impact not only on the students but the entire audience. He urged the students to respect their parents and be altruistic. He communicated to the parents to teach their children to be responsible, to do the daily errands to know the value of work.
This was followed by the honouring of the student achievers of class X who have scored 90% and above in class X CBSE Board Examination. In connection with the Silver Jubilee Year, the Lourdites sang a delightful Jubilee Song ‘Come On, Come All for LCS Silver Jubilee’ composed by Rev. Fr Suraj Lobo, Assistant Parish Priest, Bejai Church. Representing all the achievers of class X, Shreenidhi Neernarvi shared his honest thoughts. Ms Belita Mascarenhas expressed gratitude to all who were instrumental in making this day happen.A musical piece was played by Jaydon Baptist of class VIII on the Saxophone, Maquin Rodrigues of class IX on the Keyboard, Aston Fernandes of class XII on the guitar and Joshua of class XII on the percussion,that was euphonious. A thematic skit titled ‘The Life Within Us’ was presented by the students of classes XI and XII based on the Silver Jubilee Tagline ‘Values Par Excellence’. The Summit ended with the singing of the national anthem. The programme was compered by Ms Deepa DSouza.
