Harihara, June 26 : The inauguration ceremony of Saint Aloysius International School in Harihara, Karnataka, coinciding with the 457th Jubilee of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, was a momentous event held on June 25, 2024, at 12 noon.
The event commenced with the National Anthem, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on dais. A memorial plaque commemorating the inauguration of the school and an effigy of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga were unveiled, marking the significant milestone.
Ms Reena Pinto, Principal of Saint Aloysius International School, led the prayer, invoking the presence of God during this auspicious moment. Fr Melvin Pinto SJ, Rector of Saint Aloysius Institutions, Mangalore, extended a warm welcome to the guests and attendees.
The esteemed Governor of Karnataka, Hon'ble Shri Thawarchand Gehlot, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized that cultured education is the key to realizing the concept of an integral India. He highlighted that building a well-educated society is the foundation of national prosperity, fostering democratic ideals, diverse customs, cultural heritage, and historical awareness.
Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Shimoga Diocese, congratulated the Jesuit organization for its revolutionary steps in education, which aims to transform humanity and benefit society globally. Mr B.P. Harish, MLA of Harihar Assembly Constituency, praised Saint Aloysius Institution for its two decades of dedicated educational service to Harihar Taluk and its continuous efforts for societal development.
Rev. Fr. Dionysius SJ, Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province, proudly noted that the opening of the new Saint Aloysius International School marks a new chapter for the Aloysius Institutions in Mangalore.
St Aloysius international school owes a deep sense of gratitude to the Jesuits especially Rev. Fr Eric Mathias, SJ, Director of St Aloysius Institutions, Harihar.
The entire event was masterfully led by MCs Mr. Abdul Rahman and Mrs Shamim Banu Sabha. A cultural programme by the kindergartners was a feast to the eyes, school students, from Classes I to VIII as well as from the Pre-University (PU) section, captivated the audience and was highly commendable. Hundreds of parents and students attended the event, making it a memorable occasion.
The successful execution of the event was due to the coordinated efforts of various departments and individuals. The District Administration, Taluk Management Board, Security Department, Press Media, Audio-Visual Media, and all the concerned Departmental Officers played crucial roles.
The presence and support of well-wishers and parents added to the significance of this historic event. Mr. Baptist Sunny Gudinho, Program Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks.
