Mangaluru, March 8 : On 8th March 2025, Carmel School, CBSE, marked International Women's Day with an inspiring street play titled ‘Hear Her Voice’ at Beeri Junction at 2pm, which was once performed on school premises. The play, written and guided by Mr. Umesh Karanth, powerfully depicted the challenges faced by women while highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Mrs. Jenevia Pinto, Retired Headmistress, Sr. Pramila A.C, Principal, Sr. Anitha A.C Vice Principal, Sr. Sheethal A.C, Headmistress of Stella Maris Kannada Higher Primary School, and Mrs. Geetha Hegde, PTA Vice President.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, invoking blessings for the occasion, followed by a formal welcome by Tr. Swetha. The street play, performed by students, captivated the audience, portraying the struggles, strength, and resilience of women and inspiring everyone to support gender equality. The play effectively showcased the importance of recognizing and respecting women’s contributions in all aspects of life.
Guest speaker Mrs. Jenevia Pinto addressed the gathering, emphasizing that women are not weak but strong and capable, and society must acknowledge their true potential. She highlighted that a woman plays multiple roles – as a wife, mother, sister, and guide, holding families and societies together. She is the backbone of a household, making her an indispensable part of society. She also spoke about how women have excelled in various fields and their contributions should be recognized and celebrated. She further added that behind every successful man, there is always a woman who supports and strengthens him, reminding everyone of the essential role women play in shaping the world.
Following this, Principal Sr. Pramila addressed the gathering, speaking about the significance of women in our lives. She remarked that the word ‘woman’ reminds us of a mother’s selfless love and strength. A woman is the light of a home, nurturing and guiding her family with care and dedication. She further stated that a woman’s strength and sacrifices are immeasurable, and just as men are given abilities by God, so are women, making them equally deserving of respect and recognition. She urged everyone to stand by and uplift women, ensuring they receive the respect and opportunities they rightfully deserve.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Teacher Janet, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the program a success. The entire event was skillfully compered by Teacher Disha, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of the program. The street play was highly praised for its powerful message leaving a lasting impact on the audience. The celebration stood as a strong reminder of the need to recognize, respect, and empower women in all walks of life.
