Udupi, March 8 : St. Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School, Udupi, celebrated International Women’s Day on 8, March 2025 with great enthusiasm, embracing the theme “Accelerate Action.” The event aimed to recognize the incredible contributions of women in various fields and inspire young minds to take proactive steps toward gender equality. The presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Mrs. Nirmala Bangera, a retired physical education teacher of St. Cecily’s High School, added grace and significance to the occasion.

The celebration commenced with a soulful prayer, setting a serene and respectful ambiance. This was followed by a vibrant welcome dance that symbolized the spirit of womanhood. Ms Grace Rodrigues then delivered the welcome speech, extending warm greetings to the gathering and emphasizing the importance of celebrating the achievements of women. A creative fancy dress presentation showcased students portraying renowned women leaders, inspiring everyone with their stories of courage and perseverance. To further instill confidence and ambition in young minds, a PowerPoint presentation titled “Women Can Do Anything” was displayed, highlighting the limitless potential of women across diverse fields. The energy and passion of the students came alive in a captivating dance performance, reflecting the strength and resilience of women. Adding to the thought-provoking atmosphere, a skit based on the theme “Accelerate Action” was enacted, delivering a powerful message on the importance of taking bold steps towards women’s empowerment. Adding a heartfelt touch to the celebration, Anjalin Birje, a dedicated member of the non-teaching staff, sang a beautiful wishing song, spreading warmth and joy among the audience.

A special moment of the event was the felicitation of the chief guest, Mrs. Nirmala Bangera, in recognition of her dedication and years of service to the institution. In her inspiring address, she encouraged students to become role models in their own way and contribute positively to society. To engage students further, drawing and essay writing competitions were conducted on the theme “A Woman Who Inspired Me the Most.” The winners were honored with awards, acknowledging their creativity and expression. Additionally, in observance of Computer Literacy Day, various competitions were organized, with prizes sponsored by New Saraswati House Publication Pvt. Ltd.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Shreesha Bharama Mali, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The programme was skillfully hosted by Simra Mariyam and Keerthana who ensured a seamless flow of events with their eloquent presentation. The EmpowerHer 2025 celebration was not just an event but a movement, inspiring every student and teacher to recognize the power of women and take meaningful action toward a more inclusive and equitable world.
