Mangaluru, March 8 : International Women's Day was celebrated at Carmel School on 8th March , 2025 with great enthusiasm, as the students of Grade 5 came together to honour the women who have paved the way for future generations. The entire school community joined in this special celebration, which reflected the importance of recognizing women’s contributions.

The event began with a prayer service that truly opened the doors to heaven, invoking blessings and guidance for all the women in our school community and across the world, followed by a symbolic gesture where women present for the occasion were each given a rose to place in a vase. This act represented the qualities of sweetness, compassion, and strength that are often associated with women, setting a reflective tone for the day’s activities.

The occasion was graced by dignitaries, including the Chief Guest-Dr. Nagraj Bhat-Associate Professor in Department of Emergency Medicine at Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore, Sister Lily Pushpa, the Principal; Dr. Sr. Prem D'Souza, the Administrator; and Sister Premal, the Vice Principal. Dr. Nagraj Bhat’s message stood out as he spoke about the important roles women play as mothers and teachers in shaping lives. He also highlighted how nature supports and nurtures women, stressing the need to create a world where women are respected and valued.

Students then enacted a meaningful Dance Drama that powerfully exemplified a mother's unwavering love. The story cantered on a family that suffered an accident, leaving the mother with severe facial injuries and the loss of her beauty. As a young girl, the daughter deeply loved her mother, but as she grew older and went to college, she began to neglect and tease her, unaware of the emotional pain she caused. Despite this, the mother never showed sorrow. After finishing her studies, the daughter moved far away, forgetting her mother. It wasn’t until a cooking accident left her injured that she instinctively called for her mother, realizing how long it had been since she'd visited. Without delay, she returned home, only to find her mother giving shelter and education to orphan girls. This touching performance sent a strong message of love, respect, and gratitude towards mothers and all women, reminding everyone that a mother's love is unconditional and everlasting.

The event was followed by the recognition and honouring of14 remarkable women from diverse fields who have made significant contributions to society.
