Puttur, 3 March 2025: The Placement Cell of St Philomena College (Autonomous) organized a Campus Recruitment Drive for Medical Coder positions at Optum in the Postgraduate Seminar Hall on March 1. The event was inaugurated with an address by Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, who emphasized the importance of professionalism in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

“In this fast-changing world, mere degrees and marks are not enough for success. Professionalism, attitude, duty, loyalty, ethics, and commitment play a crucial role in shaping one’s career. Even with years of experience, a lack of professionalism can hinder growth. Job aspirants must look beyond salary packages and focus on skill development,” he remarked while extending his best wishes to the candidates.

Clement Joel Sequeira, an alumnus of the college and currently the Head of Talent Hunt at Optum, led the recruitment process. He provided an overview of Optum’s operations and the qualifications required for a career in medical coding.

The event commenced with a prayer by Avani and Apoorva. Dr Geeta Purnima K., Placement Officer, welcomed the gathering, Abhishek Suvarna, Deputy Registrar of Examinations and Placement Officer, delivered the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Dhanya P.T., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.

Key representatives from Optum, including Divya Darshan B.P., Manager of the Medical Coding Division, and Warren D. Costa, Recruiter, graced the occasion. Dr Vinayachandra, Registrar of Examinations, Dr, Radhakrishna Gowda, Head of the Department of Business Administration and Harshit R., Coordinator of the PG M. Com program were present on the occasion.
