Moodbidri, Sep 16, 2024 : On September 14th Carmel School organized an insightful session on cancer prevention led by Dr. Raj Prashop BHMS, MD in observance of World Rose Day which is celebrated on September 22nd to honor cancer patients. The program aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention strategies for cancer.

The event was graciously hosted by M.C. Rhea Dsouza who set a positive tone for the day. Anushka Rego extended a warm welcome to the audience highlighting the significance of the event. In a gesture of respect and gratitude, our Vice Principal Sr. Preena presented a potted plant to Dr. Raj Prashop symbolizing growth and hope.

Dr. Raj Prashop delivered an impactful talk emphasizing the role of lifestyle choices, regular screenings and early intervention in the fight against cancer. His knowledge and insights left a lasting impression on the students and staff. He highlighted that while cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide many cases are preventable with timely intervention and lifestyle changes. Sir explained the different types of cancers, their symptoms, risk factors and the role of genetic predisposition, environmental factors and unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as smoking, poor diet and lack of physical activity.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Wiona Varghese who expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rajprashop the organizing committee and all the attendees for making the event meaningful. The session concluded with our Coordinator Sr.Ranitha presenting a memento to the resource person as a token of appreciation for his time and valuable contribution.

The session not only enhanced awareness but also inspired students to contribute to the cause of cancer prevention in their communities. It served as a powerful reminder that through awareness, education and early action, we can all contribute to the fight against cancer spreading hope just as World Rose Day intends.
