Puttur, 14 July 2024 : Under the auspices of the Staff Development and Appraisal Cell of St Philomena College, the third Faculty Development Program titled ‘Navigating the Transition: From Affiliated Institution to Autonomous Institution’ was organized last Friday at the PG Seminar Hall of the college.
Presiding over the program, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the Principal of the College, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and dedication among faculty members. He stated, “Faculty members who devote their time to studying new subjects are invaluable. Advancement can only be achieved through persistent study and commitment. While a good leader is key, every employee plays a vital role in the growth of the organization. For the institution to progress effectively, there must be a clear vision of the targets to be achieved in the coming years.” He also congratulated the organizers and participants of the program.
Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, Dean of Arts, provided insights into the structure and operations of the Board of Studies in an autonomous college. He elaborated on how to conduct Board of Studies meetings effectively. Geeta Poornima K., Lecturer of Computer Science, Dr Dimple Jennifer Fernandes, Head of the Hindi Department, and Dr Norbert Mascarenhas further detailed the structure and proceedings of the Board of Studies in autonomous colleges, sharing their experiences as members.
Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, the Vice-Principal of the College, offered information about the members of the study boards across various departments. The session was moderated by Vinayachandra, Head of the Department of Computer Science.
Dr Edwin D'Souza, Coordinator of the Staff Development and Appraisal Cell, welcomed. Cell member Vipin Naik proposed a vote of thanks, and Abhishek Suvarna compered the program.
