Moodbidri, July 7, 2024 : The Almighty touches us in ways no one else can...

Carmel School recently organized an orientation program on 5th July themed ‘Pause and Reflect’ for both Catholic and non-Catholic students. The session commenced with a heartfelt devotional prayer song, setting a serene tone for the day. A creative welcome dance followed, beautifully depicting the splendor of nature. Tr Joslin welcomed the gathering with words of wisdom.

The resource persons for the sessions were Fr. Gabriel Lobo CSsR, Fr. Ashwil Dias CSsR, Fr. Dony Cardoza CSsR - Redemptorist Fathers from the Alangar community and Fr. Cyril Lobo from the Diocese of Udupi. Each was warmly welcomed by students with a symbolic gesture of presenting potted saplings. Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C. the principal and Sr. Preena A.C,the Vice principal,Sr Ranitha and Sr Rosy ,the coordinators also graced the occasion with their presence.

The orientation program for Catholic students started with a Eucharist celebration added a deeply spiritual dimension to the program. The sessions focused on exploring the meaning of prayers, questioning faith, and understanding the richness of spiritual traditions. Students were encouraged to ask questions about their faith and beliefs. Various videos were shown to illustrate different aspects of faith and spirituality.

The beauty and depth of the Psalms were explored, showing how they can provide comfort and guidance in daily life. Songs were taught to make the sessions more engaging and memorable.

A Bible quiz was conducted in groups to reinforce learning. This activity encouraged teamwork and healthy competition.

Fr. Dony initiated the session for Non Catholic students with lively action songs, which the students eagerly participated in. This set the stage for a fruitful discussion led by Fr. Ashwil engaged everyone with lively action songs and shared an inspirational story about a bamboo plant, emphasizing the importance of growth, learning, and letting go. He eloquently explained the concept of one's capacity. Fr. Gabriel Lobo CSsR taught a devotional song, imparting a powerful message about honesty and God's omnipresence. Fr. Dony CSsR continued with action songs and spoke on positive thinking, illustrating a mother’s sacrifice through a compelling video and PowerPoint presentation.

Fr. Cyril addressed life's challenges, offering insights on overcoming obstacles and combating depression. Video presentations on motivational topics, the disadvantages of social media, and more, left a profound impact on the young minds.

The program was confidently compered by Sudhanshu S Devadiga and Reeva Fernandes of grade 8.

This orientation program was not just informative but also a memorable experience that enriched the minds and hearts of all who attended.
