Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of Philomena College, praised the senior students, describing them as the backbone of the institution, essential to its growth and ongoing transformation into an autonomous college. He highlighted the successful creation of a network that connects approximately three thousand alumni, emphasizing the collective effort for further development: “Let us join hands for the development of the college, as if we are yours and you are ours, “he added.
At the same event, Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal of St. Philomena Pre-University College, appreciated the leadership of Mr A.J. Rai, the outgoing President of the Senior Students Association, for fostering strong relationships within the community. The gathering also welcomed Smt Pratima Hegde, the new president of the association. A.J. Rai, along with Treasurer Abhishek Suvarna and Secretary Tejaswi Bhat, conducted the official proceedings, including financial disclosures and annual reports, followed by a vote of thanks.
The meeting was well-attended, with dignitaries such as retired DYSP Jagannath Rai Nulialu, a distinguished alumnus from the first batch of the college. In his address, A.J. Rai articulated a vision for the future, urging more alumni to engage with the association, given the elevated status of the college in the society and its recent achievement of the ISO 9001:2015 accreditation. “Philomena College should soon become an autonomous institution and, also hopefully, will soon be recognized as a Deemed University,” Rai stated, underscoring the widespread acclaim and aspirational goals of the college.
