Udupi, Nov 30 : On the delightful evening of 29, November 2024, at 5:00 p.m. St. Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE) hosted its much-anticipated Annual Day with the theme, “Sustainable Development – Green Steps Towards a Bright Future.” The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Sr. Melissa A C, Principal of Mount Carmel Central School Maryhill Mangaluru whose inspirational presence added grandeur to the event.
The programme commenced with the dignitaries being ceremoniously escorted to the stage by the rhythmic beats of the school band, setting the tone for an evening of joy and reflection. This was followed by a soulful prayer song, invoking divine blessings for the success of the event.
The school orchestra showcased a mesmerizing performance, setting a serene and reflective mood. Soon after, students of Grade 6 took to the stage with an energizing dance performance titled “Save Trees, Save Water,” reminding everyone of the importance of conserving our precious resources.
The dignitaries were subsequently escorted to the stage. Principal Sr. Lathika extended a formal and heartfelt welcome to the gathering and introduced the distinguished Chief Guest, Sr. Melissa A C with grace and admiration.
Sr. Melissa addressed the gathering and passionately urged everyone to embrace sustainability as a personal mission and to work towards building a future that is both prosperous and in harmony with nature.
A notable highlight of the evening was the distribution of the Academic Excellence Awards, honoring outstanding students for their dedication and achievements. This proud moment resonated deeply with the audience, reflecting the school’s unwavering commitment to holistic education and excellence.
The cultural extravaganza continued with a series of captivating performances. Students of grade 8 enthralled the audience with a vibrant dance performance themed “The Five Elements of the Earth,” symbolizing harmony with nature.
Students of Grades 9 and 10 presented a thought-provoking dance, “Nature in Danger,” portraying the urgent need to address environmental degradation.
Students of Grade 7 left an indelible impression with their poignant dance drama on the theme “Sustainable Development,” blending storytelling with powerful visual elements.
The event was seamlessly anchored by: Aarushi Acharya, Rolvita Felicia D Souza, Muskaan, Bradley Denvar Vaz Susan Rao and Sharan K S who kept the audience engaged and ensured the smooth flow of the programme.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by the students expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The Annual Day celebration not only showcased the incredible talents of the students but also served as a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility to embrace sustainable practices and build a greener future.
