Mangalore, May 12, 2009 : The golden jubilee celebration of the Fr Muller School of Nursing, was held here on Tuesday May 12.
The celebration ‘50 Years of Caring Compassion’, was arranged at the Academy Hall of the Fr Muller Hospital.
Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, presided over the function and said, “The nursing profession is a noble one which is similar to a mission. The nurses are equal to mothers and give their patients the love of a mother”, he said.
Bangalore Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras was the chief guest who said that nursing is the sole profession of humanity.
Prof Alka Kalambi, Principal, L T College of Nursing, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, said that nursing profession is the only one which is disciplined and has a passion for service. Prof Kalambi was the guest of honour.
Dr Nellie Shuri Boma, Al Rahaba Hospital, Abu Dhabi was another guest of honour.
‘Glimpse’, the souvenir of the institute, containing the organization’s milestones was released by Archbishop Moras.
Seven former principals of the Fr Muller School of Nursing, the graduates of the first batch, rank holders, and those with many years of long service for the institution were felicitated on the occasion.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of the institution, welcomed all. Sr Winnifred D’Souza read the report while Sr Jacintha D’Souza, principal, Fr Muller College of Nursing, gave the vote of thanks. A cultural programme was also arranged after the formal function.
