Sancoale - Goa, Dec 1 : The Communication Annual Day was held on 22nd November 2024 at Holy Family Multipurpose Hall, Sancoale, organised by Holy Family Communication Centre, Sancoale. An event of inter-school competition was organised for Students from Pre-Primary to Ninth Standard, Social Centres and Formees, of Holy Family Educational Society schools with the exciting and relevant theme "Digital Innovation for Sustainability." The event aimed to inspire and educate the students about the significance of using digital tools and technologies to foster sustainable practices.
The program commenced with a prayer dance invoking God’s blessing and a warm welcome address by the Directress, Sr. Molly Fernandes. Her speech highlighted the importance of integrating digital innovation into everyday practices to create a more sustainable future as God put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and said “till it and take care of it”. By embracing digital solutions, we can create a more sustainable future for generations to come, she voiced. Let us celebrate the power of innovation and its potential to drive positive change, she added.
Fernandes said as we embrace the digital age, we have a unique opportunity to develop solutions that address environmental and societal challenges and urged to commit to using digital innovation to create a resilient and sustainable world.
She expressed her gratitude to the students, staff, and distinguished guests for their participation and support.
Following the address, the dignitaries and guests were given a floral potted welcome, symbolizing growth and sustainability. This gesture set a positive tone for the rest of the event.
The highlight of the day was the speech by the Chief Guest, Mr. Guarang S. Patkar. He said:
"It is an honour and a privilege to be here with all of you today as the Chief Guest for HOFCOM's Annual Day celebrations. I extend my sincere thanks to the organizers for inviting me to this prestigious event. It's truly a pleasure to join so many brilliant minds committed to innovation, technology, and the environment.
Mr. Patkar highlighted: The theme of this year's Annual Day, 'Digital Innovation for Sustainability,' is not just timely; it is essential. We've come a long way in technological advancements, turning what was once science fiction into reality. This future depends on collaboration between businesses, governments, and individuals to leverage the full potential of digital technologies while respecting and protecting our environment.
With hope He added: At HOFCOM, I see a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability. Your efforts inspire me, and they will shape the future of our planet. The future is digital and green, and it is up to each of us to ensure technology works for the greater good. Together, we can harness digital innovation to create a smarter, more sustainable world.
With a tone of encouragement he said, continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible and embrace the challenges ahead with optimism. Through innovation, we can create solutions that benefit humanity and safeguard the planet.

The event also featured a prize distribution ceremony, where the dignitaries awarded students for their outstanding achievements in various fields. These awards recognized not only academic excellence but also contributions to sustainable practices and digital innovation projects. The Rolling trophy went to St. Michael’s Convent High School, Anjuna.
To mark this day, the quarterly magazine of Holy Family Sisters published by Holy Family Communication Centre, ‘SAVERA’ was released by the dignitaries, on the theme: “Digital Missionaries”.
To express appreciation, tokens of gratitude were presented to the guests and the Chief Guest, acknowledging their valuable time and contributions to the event.
The Guest of Honour Rev. Fr. Eddison Fernandes sdb, and the Superior General Sr. Berna Rodrigues, added further prestige to the occasion by their presence, was a source of inspiration for both the students and the staff.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Sr. Francilla Mascarenhas. She expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the day. The host for the day, Sr. Aida Rodrigues, ensured that the event flowed smoothly and kept the audience engaged throughout.
The Communication Annual Day was a resounding success, leaving the students inspired and informed about the importance of digital innovation for sustainability. The event not only celebrated achievements but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards building a sustainable future.
