Bantwal, May 10, 2014 : The new church at Nainad, constructed in commemoration of the silver jubilee of St Francis Assisi Church, Nainad was inaugurated and blessed by Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore on Friday May 10.

The bishop also inaugurated the new grotto. The inauguration was followed by the solemn Eucharistic celebration led by the bishop.

The felicitation and the grand finale of the silver jubilee that followed after the Eucharistic celebration was also presided over by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.

B Ramanath Rai, minister for forest, ecology and enviornment, Fr James D’Souza, vicar var, Beltangady, Lawrence D’Souza, vice-president, Nainad parish and Simon Moras, silver jubilee convener were the guests of honour.

Fr Fredrick Monteiro, parish priest of Nainad Church welcomed the gathering.

Florine Lobo, secretary of the parish council of Nainad Church proposed vote of thanks.

Lilly D’Souza and Avil Moras compered the programme.

The programme was followed by festal meal. The programme was witnessed by nearly a thousand people.
