Puttur , 27 July 2024 : St Philomena College, St Philomena Pre-University College, its N.C.C. Unit 3/19 Karnataka Battalion N.C.C.Army, 5 Karnataka N.C.C. Naval Corps, St Philomena Aided High School, Puttur N.C.C. Unit 91/19 Karnataka Battalion N.C.C. Army, 41A/5 KARNATAKA N.C.C. Naval Corps, 44/6 Karnataka Air Force and D.K.G.P. Higher primary school Kudipadi celebrated the 25th Kargil Victory Day, Vanamahotsav and Nutrition Days in the school premises on July 26.

Mr Vishnu Prasad, Assistant Director of Akshar Dasoha in Puttur Taluk, was the chief guest of the program. Drawing from his extensive 16 years and 2 months of army experience, he shared poignant insights into the discipline and valour inherent in military life. Emphasizing the ethos of the Army “one bullet, one enemy,” Mr Prasad highlighted the sacrifices and victories of the Kargil war, encouraging students to cherish the valour and dedication of soldiers who defend the nation.

The event also featured Mr Clement Pinto, the 41A/5 Karnataka N.C.C. Navy officer from St Philomena Aided High School, who spoke passionately about the critical role of trees in combating global warming and sustaining life. He highlighted the dual benefits of planting fruit saplings, which provide both sustenance and oxygen, urging students to take an active role in environmental conservation.

Guest of Honour Mr Rama Joisa, Honorary Chairman of the School Development and Supervision Committee, drew parallels between the responsibilities of soldiers and citizens. He encouraged everyone to emulate the dedication of soldiers in their daily lives, fostering a sense of duty and accountability.

Mr Dinesh Gowda, Chairman of the School Development and Supervision Committee, presided over the event. In his address, he stressed the collective responsibility in conservation efforts and the importance of respecting soldiers. He inspired students to consider careers in the army, enhancing the village and school’s reputation through their service.

The celebration also saw the participation of Mr Stany Praveen Mascarenes, Headmaster of Kudipadi School, who presented the importance of the special days and lauded the contributions of the chief guest, Mr Vishnu Prasad. The latter was honoured for his dedicated service to the country.

The event was graced by N.C.C. Officer Capt. Johnson David Sequeira, N.C.C. Army Officer Naresh Lobo, and N.C.C. Air Force Officer Roshan Sequeira, alongside members of the Kudipadi School Development and Supervision Committee, parents, and guardians.

A highlight of the day was the celebration of Nutrition Day and Aaati Month, where parents prepared and shared a variety of nutritious foods with the students, emphasizing the importance of a healthy diet.

The Vanamahotsav program received generous support from the Forest Department of Puttur, which donated fruit saplings. N.C.C. cadets and school students enthusiastically planted these saplings.

Mr Ganesh, teacher in the school welcomed. Teacher, Ms Ashwini proposed a vote of thanks, and teacher Janet Sequeira compered the program. The combined efforts of the students, N.C.C. cadets, and faculty ensured the success of this commemorative event, leaving a lasting impact on all participants.
