Puttur, 7 September 2024 : In a testament to the timeless heritage of Indian classical arts, St Philomena College, under the joint auspices of its Yaksha Kalakendra and Performing Arts Unit, hosted a captivating program that explored deep into the essence of artistic legacy of India. Held in the PG Seminar Hall recently, the event aimed to inspire and educate student artists, blending the vibrancy of cultural traditions with the importance of performing arts in modern life.

Resource person Mundala Guthu Prashanth Rai, Asst. Professor in the Department of Business Administration, with his expertise, conducted an insightful session on the significance of classical and folk arts. Through a detailed demonstration, Rai illuminated the students on the richness of India’s cultural fabric and the vital role these arts play in personal development. His words echoed with the young minds as he urged them to recognize their artistic potential and take pride in preserving and promoting the arts for future generations.

Presiding over the program, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the college, eloquently expressed the vivacious role of the Yakshakala Kendra in enriching the literary and cultural environment of the institution. He shared the vision behind the establishment of the Kendra, emphasizing the commitment of the Centre to nurturing holistic personalities through active participation in the arts.

Vice-Principal Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar added to the cultural discourse by discussing the importance of lyrical training in music and elaborating on the different forms of musical expression that students could explore.

Mahima and her team from the Fine Arts Association prayer. Tanuja NP, the co-coordinator of Performing Arts Unit, welcomed. Poojashree V Rai, coordinator of the event, proposed vote of thanks and Suraksha S, the coordinator of the Yakshamrita Certificate Course, anchored the proceedings.
