Puttur, Sep 28, 2024 : Celebration of Feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary and Novem Jevan was organized by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Puttur Deanery in collaboration with the ICYM Uppinangady Unit, on Sunday, 22nd September at 12:00 PM at Our Lady Virgin of the Poor Parish, Uppinangady. The event aimed to foster brotherhood among ICYM members, and build a sense of familial connection.

The dignitaries on the dais included Rev. Fr Gerald D'Souza, Parish Priest of Uppinangady Parish; Rev. Fr Rupesh Tauro, Director of ICYM Puttur Deanery; Mr. Ronald, Animator of ICYM Uppinangady Unit; Sharvin D'Souza, Representative of Puttur Deanery and PRO of ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Joyson Emmanuel, President of ICYM Puttur Deanery; Anson Monteiro, Secretary of ICYM Puttur Deanery; and Anish Veigas, President of ICYM Uppinangady Unit.

The event began with a warm welcome by Anish Vegas, followed by the offering of flowers to an idol of Mother Mary while the hymn "Moriye Hogolsiya" was sung. Rev. Fr Rupesh led the gathering in prayer. The symbolic act of putting 'Novem' into the 'vorn' was done by Rev. Fr Gerald D'Souza.

Rev. Fr Gerald addressed the youth, reflecting on his experiences as a youth director and encouraging them to cherish their time in youth, emphasizing how quickly it passes. He extended his best wishes to all participants. Rev. Fr Rupesh spoke about the significance of the feast and expressed his gratitude to the Uppinangady Unit for their efforts in organizing the event.

To add to the festivities, spot games were conducted, providing entertainment for the attendees, followed by the distribution of prizes. Joyson Emmanuel concluded the formal part of the event by offering a vote of thanks.

The program's MC was beautifully done by Melita Princia of Uppinangady Unit. The celebration concluded with a communal meal, where the food was specially prepared by some members at their homes. The event ended with a sense of unity and fellowship among the participants.

The Novem Jevan program was a beautiful blend of faith, celebration, and community bonding.
