Puttur, 28 March 2025 : In a significant stride towards academic innovation, St Philomena College (Autonomous) Puttur, has successfully conducted its second internal assessments for first-year MCA students through an online platform.

The online examinations were conducted on a trial basis, with a strong technological framework ensuring the security and integrity of the entire process. The software employed by the college strictly prohibited students from accessing any external websites or engaging in any form of malpractice during the examination. Additionally, all students were required to keep their webcams active throughout the test, allowing for real-time monitoring of their movements and communication to prevent misconduct.

What sets this initiative apart is the instantaneous evaluation mechanism. As soon as students submitted their answers, the system processed the results and published them immediately, offering a swift and transparent feedback loop. This approach not only enhanced the learning experience but also demonstrated the commitment of the institution to integrating cutting-edge technology in academic assessment.

“Since attaining autonomous status, the college has launched several new initiatives. We have already embraced technology in teaching and related domains. By conducting online internal exams for MCA students, we are adopting modern evaluation methods that reflect the forward-looking academic philosophy of the College,” said Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of StPhilomena College.

He further emphasized that while this initiative was limited to first-year MCA students for now, the college plans to extend online internal assessments to all students in the coming days. “This move is a testimony to our commitment to leveraging modern technology in education. It ensures a seamless transition towards more effective and transparent evaluation methods,” he added. The college expressed satisfaction with the smooth execution of the examination process and the immediate declaration of results, which collectively contributed to a superior learning experience.

The initiative was spearheaded by Dr Vinaya Chandra, Controller of Examinations, whose vision for academic excellence and innovation played a pivotal role in its success. He was ably supported by Deputy Controllers of Examinations Captain Johnson David Sequeira and Mr Abhishek Suvarna, whose meticulous planning and dedicated efforts ensured seamless implementation and monitoring of the online examination process.

Their coordinated work laid a solid foundation for future innovations in the assessment system of the College. Looking ahead, the administration has indicated that several technology-driven initiatives are in the pipeline to further enhance academic operations.

The principal also extended gratitude to the Correspondent and the Management for their unwavering guidance and support in all academic endeavours.
