Cordel - Mangaluru, Sep 7 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Holy Cross Church, Cordel hosted an engaging Fancy Dress and Group Singing Inter-Ward Competition at Frad Saib Hall on September 1, 2024. The event, which ran from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, showcased young talents from various wards, blending creativity with devotion.
The program began with a warm welcome by MC Ms. Sweedal Mendonca, and the official welcome was done by Ms. Sweedal Pinto, setting the tone for a day filled with enthusiasm. This was followed by a heartfelt prayer song by ICYM members. The esteemed judges, Fr. Alwyn Sequeira, Mrs. Joshal Dsouza, and Sr. Reena Juliet, were welcomed with a rose by ICYM members, adding a traditional touch.
Children participated in the Fancy Dress competition, impressively portraying saints with creative costumes that reflected both artistry and reverence. The Group Singing competition featured melodious hymns dedicated to Mother Mary, performed by participants from different wards, creating an atmosphere of spirituality and community.The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM; Fr. Paul Sebastian D'Souza, Assistant Parish Priest and Assistant Director of ICYM Cordel Unit; Fr. Vijay Monteiro, Assistant Parish Priest; Mrs. Ruth Castelino, Vice-President; Mr. Anil D'Sa, Secretary; Mr. Dolphy D'Souza, Coordinator of 21 Commissions; Mr. Vikas Rodrigues, ICYM President; and Ms. Delma Dsilva, ICYM Secretary. Their presence added significance to the event and encouraged the young participants.
The competition concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Henrita, followed by the distribution of refreshments, marking the end of a memorable and successful event that celebrated both creativity and faith.
