Kelarai - Mangaluru, Aug 23 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kelarai Unit in collaboration with Catholic Sabha, Women's Association, and the Health Commission organized a Blood Donation and Free Health Check-Up Drive at St Anne Church, Kelarai. This event was held in association with Yenepoya Medical College Hospital and Father Muller Medical College Hospital on Sunday, 18th August 2024, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Amruthalji High School, Kelarai.
The event commenced with a prayer song by ICYM members, setting a solemn and reflective tone. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the inaugural unveiling of the St. Anne Church Blood Donors logo. The event was graced by the presence of Kelarai Church Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Sylvester D'Costa; Resident Priest, Fr. Roshan Fernandes; Vice President, Mr. Santhosh D'Costa; Secretary, Mrs. Celine D'Mello; ICYM Animators, Mr. Vinod Pereira and Mrs. Linet Crasta; and ICYM President, Mr. Roopesh D'Souza.
The drive saw an enthusiastic participation from the youth, resulting in the collection of 45 units of blood. A special talk on cancer awareness was organized by the Indian Cancer Society. Additionally, general health check-ups were conducted by the staff of Father Muller Medical College Hospital
Each donor received a certificate on the spot as a token of appreciation for their generous contribution. The blood donation camp was a resounding success, owing to the overwhelming support and generosity of the staff from Yenepoya Medical College Hospital and Father Muller Medical College Hospital. The event highlighted the community's commitment to making a positive difference in health and well-being.
The organizers extended their heartfelt gratitude to all donors and volunteers who contributed to the success of this event.
