Mangaluru, July 16 : On July 16th, Carmelites globally celebrate this significant occasion dedicated to their patroness, Mother of Mount Carmel. It serves as a poignant reminder of Mother Mary's virtues. The festivities, organized with fervour on July 13, 2024 by Grade VIIA students at St Agnes School (CBSE), Bendore, showcased a profound commitment to this tradition.
The event commenced with a solemn prayer service, seeking divine blessings. Guests were welcomed with a synchronized dance performance, followed by an eloquent address from Susan Chris Dsilva. The esteemed chief guest, Sr Meena Fernandes A.C., Vice Principal, St Agnes School (CBSE), was welcomed with a floral sapling.The significance of the event was eloquently explored through a symposium, emphasizing the community's dedication to faith and reverence. The essence of the feast was beautifully captured through melodious performances by the students.
The chief guest Sr Meena Fernandes A.C., commended the students and teachers for orchestrating a remarkable event. Delving into the captivating history of the Carmelite order, she highlighted Mother Mary's pivotal role as its paramount guardian. She underscored the significance of the occasion, marking the inception of the Apostolic Carmelite Congregation, established by the revered Mother Veronica in 1868 in Bayonne, France.
The event highlighted exceptional student accomplishments, particularly those who distinguished themselves in the State Level Spell Bee Competition and advanced to the National Level. These students were commended with trophies and certificates for their achievements. Notably, in the Grade 6 category, Reishan Maria Fernandes clinched the 1st Rank, followed by Sharanya Uchil in 2nd place, and Anishka Raghavendra Prabhu and Abigail Mikayla Dsouza from Grade 6 jointly securing the 3rd Rank. Furthermore, achievements in interschool Spell Bee contests were recognized, inspiring students to pursue excellence. Anvi S.K. from Grade 6 secured the 1st Rank, Aditi Suresh Prabhu from Grade 9 secured the 2nd Rank, and Deanne Serah Lasrado from Grade 3 secured the 3rd Rank. Other notable placements included Syeda Maryam (Grade 6) in 4th place, several students in 5th place - Kashvee, Criselana Lasrado, Janice Rachel Mascarenhas, Senora Cathlene Braggs from Grade 3, and Chrisel Shanel Dsa from Grade 4. Additionally, Reishan Maria Fernandes from Grade 6, Clarissa Mendonca, and Saanvika S Gatty from Grade 7 secured the 6th rank. Adithi K P from Grade 4, Nishka M Rai from Grade 5 B, Thanishka K from Grade 7, and Dhwani D Sanil from Grade 9 achieved the 9th Rank. Lastly, Sufiya Rehman CA and Tania Ranger from Grade 9 secured the 10th positions.Students who demonstrated outstanding performance in the State Level Handwriting Competition were duly acknowledged for their accomplishments. Aditi Suvarna from Grade 6 and Arundhathi S from Grade 7 notably clinched the 7th position.
The event was adeptly hosted by Leonara Lobo and Gnanavi R as emcees, while expressions of appreciation were conveyed by Alfred Pais.
