Nirkan - Bantwal , June 21 : On Sunday, June 16, 2024, the ICYM Nirkan unit, in collaboration with the Environmental Commissions of Nirkan, inaugurated the 'Shades of Green' gardening program at St. Thomas the Apostle Church premises after the morning mass at 9:00 am.

The program was initiated in celebration of Environmental Day'24. Rev Fr. Leo William Lobo, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM Nirkan Unit, inaugurated the program by planting the first tree.

Special thanks were extended to Ivan Menezes of Vailankanni ward for donating the plants.

Vincent Bennis, Vice President of Nirkan Parish Pastoral Council and Animator of ICYM Nirkan Unit; Shanthi Veigas, Secretary of Nirkan Parish Pastoral Council; Austin Lobo, Convenor of Commissions, Nirkan; Brother Loyd D'souza; Jossy Pinto, Co-ordinator of Environmental Commissions, Nirkan Church; and Rolvish Fernandes, President of ICYM Nirkan Unit, along with parishioners, were present at the event.

Subsequently, all the members began planting, and members of YCS Nirkan also joined them.

Leesha Vinisha Lobo, Secretary of ICYM Nirkan, welcomed, thanked, and hosted the program.
