Gurpur - Kaikamba, April 29 : A delightful excursion awaited the 40 spirited members of ICYM-PYC Gurpur, along with their esteemed Animator, Mr. Godwin Tauro, and the supportive presence of two Parish Pastoral Council members, Mrs. Hilda Menezes and Mrs. Vijaya D’Costa. Embarking from the serene grounds of Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur Kaikamba, the journey commenced on the eve of April 13, 2024, under the clock of midnight, precisely at 11:30 PM.

The journey started with a solemn prayer led by Shaun Fernandes, a member of PYC, asking for blessings for the trip. The travellers reached Mysore at sunrise, they rested and felt refreshed at St. Arnold’s Central School, which is looked after by SVD priests. The morning unfolded with a sacred touch, as the entire assembly partook in a Eucharistic holy mass, presided over by the venerable Rev. Fr. Jossy of St. Arnold’s Central School. PYC member Shaun Fernandes extended heartfelt thanks to Rev. Fr. Jossy for his spiritual guidance and the generous provision of breakfast on behalf of the group.With spirits lifted and energies renewed, the group set forth to explore Mysore, first paying homage at the St. Philomena's Cathedral before immersing themselves in the boundless fun of GRS Fantasy Park. Laughter echoed amidst the thrill of snow parks, the wonder of upside-down museums, and the exhilaration of water games, creating cherished memories for all. As the sun began its descent on April 14th, bidding farewell to a day brimming with joy and camaraderie, the group embarked on the return journey to Gurpur Kaikamba. Mrs. Hilda Menezes gracefully led an evening prayer service, invoking divine protection for the safe homeward voyage. At 9 PM, the travelers found respite at a hotel in Kushalnagar, where dinner awaited them. Energized once again, the journey continued amidst harmonious melodies and spontaneous dance, with each moment cherished as a testament to the bonds of friendship and unity.

In a heartfelt culmination, ICYM-PYC President Vaibhav Rodrigues expressed profound gratitude to all who contributed to the success of this memorable escapade, acknowledging the invaluable support of every member of PYC. With the clock striking midnight, the travelers returned to Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur Kaikamba, dispersing to their respective homes with hearts full of gratitude and memories to treasure. The resounding success of the entire picnic event stands as a testament to the exemplary leadership of ICYM-PYC President Vaibhav Rodrigues and Secretary Josvita D’Souza, along with the seamless coordination of the dedicated core committee members.
