Vorkady, Oct 14 : The pastoral visit of Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese to Vorkady Sacred Heart parish was held on 7th and 8th of October 2023. It was a much awaited visit of the Shepherd after 8 long years.

Bishop was welcomed by the Parish Priest Rev Fr Basil Vas, resident priest Fr Ivan Dmello , Vice President of PPC Mr Rajesh DSouza, secretary Mrs Sandhya DSouza , Coordinator Mrs Anitha DSouza ,Drs Monthi and Telma superiors - Ursuline convents here, Smt Pushpa the school headmistress, all the associations presidents and members, parish council members and about 600 parishioners. School band of the primary school played the tunes of welcome.

After the initial ries, adult catechism and Mass, Bishop conducted Parish finance council and parish council meeting. The Bishop had dinner with Parish Pastoral Council members. On Sunday 8th October, the Bishop instructed the candidates for confirmation and then Celebrated solemn mass and confirmed 77 candidates.

After the mass, the bishop met the parents of Seminarians and sisters . There was a sumptuous breakfast for about a thousand parishioners. Bishop conducted meetings of all the associations, school staff and all the 21 commissions.

He visited both the convents, visited the sick and participated in a ward SCC. He concluded the visit with a prayer for the bishop by the Parish priest . By this time it was 6 pm. Fr Trishan DSouza secretary of the bishop assisted the bishop.
