Mangaluru, Jan 15 : The Small Christian Community Day and Parish Day of Holy Family Church, Omzoor was commemorated with a Holy mass solemnized by Rev Dr Walter D Mello, Judicial Vicar, Diocese of Mangalore on Sunday the 15th January 2022.

In his homily, Rev Dr Walter D Mello stressed the need to live with harmony and love. He also preached how we can make this earth as Heaven by serving the poor people as Jesus served. The festal mass was concelebrated by Parish Priest of Holy Family Church Omzoor, Rev Fr Alwyn D Cunha; Rev Fr Johnson Pereira, Asst. Parish Priest, Urwa Church; Rev Fr Manohar D Souza, Superior, Monte Mariano Convent, Farangipet; Rev Fr Gerald Lobo, St Ann’s Friary Bejai and Dn Lohith Mascarenhas. After the Mass, Rev Dr Walter D Mello distributed ‘Candles of Honor’ to sponsors of the SCC Day.

An entertainment programme was held after the mass. The programme was blessed by prayer Song and Dance by YCS. ICYM members presented a filmy dance. After the Cultural Event a felicitation programme was conducted. Parish Priest, Urwa Church; Rev Fr Manohar D Souza, Superior, Monte Mariano Convent, Farangipet; Rev Fr Gerald Lobo, St Ann’s Friary Bejai; Dn Lohith Mascarenhas; Rev Sr Cynthia Saldanha, Superior St Charles Convent; Mr Arthur D Souza, Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs Daffny Lewis, Secretary Parish Pastoral Council, Mr Elroy Saldanha, Convener of all Commissions, Mrs Florine Aranha, SCC Coordinator were present on the dais.

Rev Fr Alwyn D Cunha, Parish Priest welcomed the gathering. Mr Dextor Saldanha, Secretary, SCC Central Committee presented the annual report. All the past Vice-Presidents, Secretaries, Gurkars were felicitated during the function. Also a felicitation programme was held for those who celebrated Silver and Golden Wedding Jubilee during the last year. During the occasion Rev Fr Johnson Pereira was felicitated as a mark of honour being the proud Priest who was born and brought up at Omzoor. Mrs. Florine D’Souza, SCC Coordinator of Omzoor was felicitated for her selfless service during the past 3 years. Rev Dr Walter D Mello applauded the good work by the Parishioners.

Mrs. Florine D’Souza, SCC Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs Reshma D Souza compered the programme. To culminate the SCC Day celebration a fellowship dinner was served which was cooked by 18 Wards.
