Bengaluru, April 7 : St. Joseph's University organized an interfaith symposium titled "Showing the Way to God" to coincide with the festivals of Ugadi, Ramadan, and Easter. Around 1,000 students and distinguished guests attended the event.
The program began with a welcome address by Mr. Prashanth Kumar, Coordinator of Shift III, followed by an interfaith prayer led by Ms. Junaida Nallakkandy and a team of faculty and students. Recitations from the Holy Bible, Quran, and Vedas emphasized the purpose of the gathering.
A panel discussion was moderated by faculty members Mr. Jerrin Chandan and Dr. Vidhya B. Rev. Dr. Denzil Fernandes highlighted the importance of divine encounter, discernment, discipline, and dialogue in Christianity. Mr. Muralidhar Koteshwar explained how Sanatana Dharma is not just a religion but a way of life, emphasizing that God is an experience rather than a concept. Ms. Husna Fathima elaborated on the spiritual significance of fasting during Ramadan.
The evening concluded with "Divinity Amidst Chaos," a dance drama directed by Dr. Chandni Bhambhani, which depicted the resilience and unity of different faiths during crises such as COVID-19, the Manipur conflict, and the Kerala floods.
In his closing remarks, Rev. Fr. Francis Pinto SJ, Director of Shift III, stressed the importance of harmony and togetherness. The event was successfully organized under the leadership of Dr. Rizwana Khanum and her faculty team.
The symposium conveyed a powerful message: dialogue, compassion, and unity across religions are the true paths to reaching God.
