Mangaluru, Nov 1, 2024 : In a vibrant fusion of unity, culture and festivity, the students of Grade 7A and 7B of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru came together to host a grand celebration commemorating Karnataka Rajyotsava, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and Diwali for the senior students. The unique gathering blended the spirit of these significant occasions, creating a truly memorable experience. The students warmly welcomed the chief guest, Mrs. Shruthi Amin, Assistant professor of Kannada at Nitte College, with loud applause, showing their excitement and respect.
The programme opened with a soulful prayer, invoking blessings for the celebration, followed by the ceremonial lighting of lamps and a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Neha from 7A delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, and soon after, a traditional welcome dance captivated the audience.
Guided by the emcees Andrea, Palak, and Keynon, the programme unfolded smoothly. Each segment was thoughtfully crafted to honour all the three celebrations. In observance of Karnataka Rajyotsava, students showcased the State's proud heritage through a heartfelt song, capturing the spirit of Karnataka. The significance of Diwali, the festival of lights, was presented with creativity and flair, followed by a graceful dance performance celebrating its joy and radiance. To mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, a performance highlighting unity was followed by a vibrant fashion show that celebrated traditional diversity. Ishikathen led the unity oath, reinforcing the importance of togetherness.
As the event drew to a close, the chief guest Ma’am Shruthi Amin shared an inspiring message, commending the students for their talent and enthusiasm. She encouraged them to take pride in Karnataka’s language and traditions, while fostering unity in diversity. Mrs. Amin also urged the students to respect others, limit their screen time, and cherish quality moments with parents and family. She encouraged them to work diligently and stay committed to achieving success in their lives.
The programme continued with a felicitation ceremony for students who won in various school competitions. Each award was greeted with enthusiastic applause, creating proud moment for the winners. Following this, the Vice Principal congratulated the achievers, and commended the students and their mentors for their efforts in organizing such a successful event.
The celebration concluded on a high note with a warm vote of thanks by Mihira Shetty and Ayaan Ullal, acknowledging everyone who contributed to the event’s success. The gathering then joined together to sing the State anthem ‘Jaya Bharatha Jananiya Tanujathe’ celebrating Karnataka’s rich heritage and culture.
