Mangaluru, Sep 6, 2024 : The Teachers’ Day celebration at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru was truly vibrant and spectacular, marked by great enthusiasm, joy and love. The event commenced with the teachers being ceremoniously ushered into the auditorium to the rhythmic beats of the “Kerala Chende.” The warm welcome continued with a traditional sprinkling of fragrant rose perfume and a captivating “Yakshagana” dance performance.

The programme opened with a soulful prayer song followed by a vibrant traditional welcome dance. School Head Boy, Harshith, delivered the welcome address on behalf of the cabinet leaders and students, expressing heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the teachers. The significance of the day was beautifully articulated by the students.

In a touching tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the dignitaries honoured the great scholar and former President of India by adorning his portrait with flowers. The highlight of the celebration was a unique dance drama titled “The Classroom Time Machine”, which transported teachers back to the nostalgic era of the 90s through a mesmerizing fusion dance.

Adding to the excitement, a surprise video featuring heartfelt messages from ex-students touched the hearts of the teachers. The event also included a series of entertaining and interactive games for the teaching and non-teaching staff organized, making the day even more memorable.

The event concluded on a note of gratitude to the rendition of the song Shukriya followed by the formal vote of thanks by the Head Girl Elsha Rose Lewis. The Cabinet Members offered a gift and a bookmark to express their love and gratitude to their teachers.

The afternoon session involved PTEC members who organised a brief entertaining programme for the teachers. The teachers were welcomed with a refreshing drink, cake and a bookmark. The programme commenced with a prayer song followed by a welcome address by PTA joint secretary Mrs Sumana Mascarenhas. The teachers were kept on their toes with an interactive series of games along with spot prizes by the M.C. A lively dance performance by PTEC members and choreographed by Mrs Lavisha set the tone for a beautiful afternoon, which included an all-encompassing energetic dance for the entire MCCS faculty. PTA Vice President Mrs Preema DCunha thanked the teaching fraternity for their dedication and commitment. A sumptuous meal was arranged by the PTEC for all to relish. The programme was compeered by PTEC member Lisa Rodrigues.

The Principal, Sr. Melissa appreciated the efforts put in and the love showered on the teachers by the students and PTEC members in their respective programs. She urged the students to not only remember the teachers on a day like this, but also forever in their hearts. Both the celebrations were a fitting tribute to the dedicated and hard working teachers of MCCS, leaving each of them with fond memories of a day filled with love, respect and joy.
