Loretto - Bantwal, Aug 15 : “We will stand with courage, we will live with peace, we will create wealth, we will die for the orange, white and green.”

On August 15 2024 Loreto English Medium High School celebrated 78th Independence day with great patriotism and enthusiasm. The event commenced with the arrival of the esteemed guests, who were escorted by the School band setting ceremonial tone for the occasion.

Rev.Fr.Dr. Alfred Vincent Sequeira Assistant Director of Diocesan Biblical catechetical liturgical Centre, School Principal Rev. Fr. Jason Vijay Monis, P.T.A Vice President Mr Sachin Noronha Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council of Loreto Church ,Sr. Idoline Rodrigues Headmistress Loretto Aided Kannada Medium School, the school SPL Ms Sanvi Acharya were present on the dais.

The teachers performed a heartfelt rendition of the prayer song “Vande Mataram” filling the atmosphere with a sense of national Pride. The welcoming address was delivered by Mast. Joshil Prinston Pinto Grade X. The highlight of the event was the unfurling of the national flag by the chief guest and other dignitaries,a moment that was followed by singing of the National Anthem and Flag Song .Ms Sanvi Acharya From Grade X delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of the day. On this occasion the students of various grades exhibited the cultural programme. The chief guest Fr.Alfred urged, "Don't just show your love for India by adoring its map or flag, but by respecting every individual. Let us endeavour to live in freedom and work together to develop our society.”

Mr. Cyprian D'Souza represented the School Correspondent in his absence during the Independence Day celebration. He started with the question What can I do for my country? He emphasised the importance of remembering martyrs and added that if parents fulfil their duties, their children will grow up to become patriotic, duty-bound citizens.

Sonam from grade IX won third place in Taluk level Chess competition and selected for district level , the taluk level Karate winners were honoured during the occasion.

The physical education teacher Mr. Padmanabha Mayya led the gathering in a powerful slogan which further ignited the patriotic spirit. A vote of thanks was extended by Ms.Babitha Grade IX . The programme was anchored by Ms.Chinthana of Grade V. Marking the end of the Celebration, sweets were distributed to all.
