Udupi, June 28, 2024 : St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School in Udupi commemorated Vana Mahotsava, the festival of forests, on June 27th, with an objective of raising awareness about the importance of trees and the need for environmental conservation. This event was a harmonious blend of cultural activities which aimed at instilling a love for nature among students.
The Eco Club, guided by their dedicated teachers, enthusiastically organized a meaningful programme which commenced with a devotional prayer, thanking and seeking God’s blessings for the bountiful Nature around.
The agile dancers of the Eco Club ushered in the audience with an enigmatic dance performance. Sr. Therese Jyothi and Teacher Wilma, accorded a gracious welcome to the chief guest of the event , Mr. Krishnappa, forest officer of the Udupi division, by presenting him a sapling. Mr. Krishnappa inaugurated the event by planting a tree. In his inspiring message he urged students to make tree planting a birthday tradition and promoted the slogan “Each One, Plant One” for a greener future.
The students’ variety entertainment performances showcased vibrant displays of environmental awareness. A captivating dance drama depicted the importance of saving trees and caring for Mother Earth. Through graceful movements, expressive postures, and intricate expressions, the dancers transported the audience into the story, capturing the emotions and imaginations of all present.
The program concluded with the National Anthem. Sathwika and Abiel of grade 3 compered the event gracefully, while Thanishka of grade 6 delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks.
Thus the Vana Mahotsava celebrations at St. Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among the students with a motive of promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
