Mangaluru, Sep. 28: Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the bishop of Mangalore blessed and inaugurated Kripa Sadhana formation house at Bajpe here, on 27 September 2020, observing all health protocols limiting a gathering not more than 20.
Bishop inaugurated the house by cutting the ribbon at the main door. He, then led the prayer service for blessing the house with the celebration of the liturgy of the Word. The crucifix in the chapel, tabernacle, altar and ambo were also blessed with special prayers.
Kripa Sadhana serves as a house for vocation promotion and formation; it is open to young persons who are discerning a call to the Priesthood in the diocese of Mangalore, while pursuing their PUC studies.
In his address, Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha elucidated the idea behind the name Kripa ̃ Sadha ̃na ̃. Every vocation is God’s gift (kripa), requiring our human response in obedience (sadhana). The name Kripa Sadhana depicts the interplay between God’s initiative and human response, between vocation and formation. It brings out the beautiful relationship between grace and effort. In the life of faith, there is movement on both sides; through our own action we participate with God’s grace. Basically, formation is learning to partner with God’s grace.
Bishop said, "The students under formation in Kripa ̃ Sadha ̃na ̃ are expected to grow in holiness and integration as they discern their vocation. In the corporate world, people choose entrepreneurs who are enterprising and intelligent to be the leaders. Whereas, to be a priest, one needs to be equipped not just with intelligent quotient (IQ), but also with emotional quotient (EQ), spiritual or moral quotient (SQ), curiosity quotient (CQ), adaptability quotient (AQ) and physical quotient (PQ). When the formation gears up every candidate in these aspects, one can grow holistically."
Bishop gratefully acknowledged the great service rendered by Christian Brothers in the field of education, faith and social life of people of Bajpe. He thanked Br John Pereira, the Superior of Christian Brothers religious house for handing over formation house to the diocese which is now renamed as Kripa ̃ Sadha ̃na ̃ formation house of Mangalore Diocese.
Bishop also thanked Fr Maxim Rosario, diocesan estate manager for the renovation of the house and arranging all the logistics.
Msgr Maxim L Noronha, vicar general; Rev. Fr Maxim Rosario, diocesan estate manager; Rev. Fr Anil Fernandes, Diocesan Vocation Director and Rector, Gladsom Home Minor Seminary; Rev. Fr Clany Dsouza, Rector, Kripa ̃ Sadha ̃na ̃; Rev. Fr Ronald Cutinha, Parish Priest, Bajpe; Rev. Stany Monteiro, Chaplain, St John Paul II shrine; Br John Pereira, Superior, Christian Brothers Religious house; Rev. Fr Edwin Correa, parish priest, Permude; Mrs Juliet Moras, PPP Secretary and resident students were present.
