Puttur ,19 February 2025 : Assistant Professor Geetha Poornima K., from the Department of Computer Applications (UG and PG) at St Philomena College (Autonomous), has been awarded with a Doctorate by Srinivas University, Mangalore, for her research work titled ‘Advancement in Aquatic Athlete Analytics: A Novel Approach to Swimmer Fitness Prediction Using Modified Resilient Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm.’
Dr Geetha Poornima carried out her research under the esteemed guidance of Dr Suresh D. from Srinivas University and Dr Krishna Prasad K. from A.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mangalore.
Dr Geetha Poornima has published over 20 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals, including three publications indexed in Scopus. She has presented research papers at four national-level conferences and has contributed four chapters to edited volumes. She also holds co-authorship in two books, further cementing her academic credentials.
In recognition of her research endeavours, she has applied for a patent and has successfully secured copyright for one of her research papers. Apart from her research contributions, she has been actively involved in academic and student activities. During her doctoral studies, she served as the Secretary of the IEEE Student Chapter at Srinivas University, where she played a pivotal role in organizing several research-oriented events.
Her outstanding contributions to academia and research have been duly recognized by Srinivas University, which honoured her with the Best Research Scholar Award in 2023. She also won the Best Paper Award at the national-level paper presentation competition organized by the IEEE Student Chapter of Srinivas University for Ph.D. scholars in 2020.
