Moodbidri, Feb 21 : Carmel School, Moodbidri, celebrated International Mother Language Day on 15th February 2025, with great enthusiasm, highlighting the beauty of linguistic diversity and cultural unity. Organized by Grade 3B, the event emphasized the importance of preserving and respecting various languages and traditions.
The program began with a welcome address by Shreejith, followed by Anushka’s introduction and Lisha’s insights on the significance of the day. Guest of Honor, Mrs. Joylin Misquith, delivered an inspiring speech, quoting Nelson Mandela:
"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart."
She emphasized the emotional connection one has with their mother tongue and the importance of preserving linguistic heritage.
The Vice Principal, Sr. Preena AC, further reinforced this message, elaborating on how languages play a crucial role in building cultural harmony and mutual respect.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances, including a Welcome Dance, Folk Dance, and a Fashion Show showcasing different languages and traditions. Engaging activities were conducted for Grades 1 to 3, such as a traditional food display by Grade 1, a cultural collage by Grade 2 and a quiz competition Grade 3.
Arush delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, while Jenisha and Rion Serrao gave the closing remarks, appreciating the efforts of all participants.
Students dressed in orange, green, and white T-shirts , symbolized India’s unity in diversity.
The event was a meaningful tribute to linguistic heritage, fostering cultural pride and unity among students.
